Week of October 29, 2018

LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK

RELIGION – In Lesson 8 we learned that miracles, done by the power of God, help people believe in God and follow him.

MATH –We reviewed Chapter 4 and then took the Chapter 4 Assessment. They did a great job!

LANGUAGE ARTS – In Unit 3, Lesson 2 we isolated sounds in words and generated words that contain the sound of e, spelled ea. We also learned to blend, spell and read words that contain the th and ch sounds, spelled th, ch and tch. Our Read Aloud stories this week were Jake’s Tree by Dennis Fertig and Journey of a Raindrop by Vidas Barzdukas. Reading skills that we worked on included: comprehension strategies such as asking questions and summarizing. We learned that declarative sentences (telling sentences) are most often seen when we read. We read decodable books 39-41 and they went home daily. I hope they continue to read them to you at home!

SCIENCE – We conducted a Pumpkin Science Experiment on Thursday. We measured, weighed and counted pumpkins seeds and recorded our findings. Thanks so much to my volunteers that helped out. You did a great job carving the pumpkins too! We had a blast!
