Week of November 5, 2018

LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK

RELIGION – We learned that All Saints’ Day is a special day that the Church has set aside to honor all of the saints in heaven.

VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: Courtesy – being thoughtful of others

SAINT OF THE MONTH: Saint Martin de Porres

MATH – We took the Benchmark Assessment for Chapters 1-4. The tests were tough, but the children did an awesome job on the Assessment! We began Chapter 5 – Shapes and Patterns.

LANGUAGE ARTS – In Unit 3, Lesson 3 we isolated sounds in words and generated words that contain the sound of or, spelled or and ore. We also learned to blend, spell and read words that contain the ar and w sounds, spelled ar, w and wh. Our Read Aloud stories this week were From Seed to Flower by Jeri Cipriano and Insects Grow and Change by Katie Sharp. Reading skills that we worked on included: author’s purpose, sequencing and making connections. We learned that interrogative sentences (asking sentences) ask a question and end with a question mark. We read decodable books 44, 45 and 47 and they went home. I hope they continue to read them to you at home!
