Well, we are still trying to get through our Making Choices chapter this week! Last week we had a change in plans and studied the Virtue of Charity. We had a guest speaker from the St. Vincent de Paul Society come talk to the kids about their Mission and how they live the virtue of Charity. It was a wonderful discussion and the students really asked some great questions! So, THIS week, we will finish discussing Making Choices. We will be having a test over lessons 1 – 4 on October 10th (date subject to change) and will then begin working on the Commandments. Lectio Divina Week #5 was assigned today and will be due on THURSDAY, September 27th.
Math
DeWolfe: This week, we will continue working on chapter 2 – Whole Number Multiplication and Division. All students have been asked to continue practicing their multiplication facts at home for 5 – 10 minutes a night. We will focus on division this week, but students will also continue working on their multiplication skills.
Science
Today we will be hosting a guest speaker, Einar Jensen, a Risk Reduction Specialist from South Metro Fire, who will be talking to the students about Brain Matters. This is a presentation on brain safety and the massive amount of neurological growth happening in this time of their lives. Please be sure to ask your child about what they learned during the presentation! On Tuesday, we will continue studying the Human Body Systems. We wrapped up the Circulatory System and started the Respiratory System last week and will finish up the week talking about the Digestive and Urinary Systems.
Social Studies
We will continue chapter 1 – in our books this week, which is the study of the first Americans. Students were given their assignments last week and supplies were due today. If your child forgot their supplies, please have them at school by tomorrow as students will begin construction at that time. The vocabulary test for this chapter is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, September 25th. A Quizlet can be found at: https://quizlet.com/_2iuquu
