This year, STM would like to honor the Veterans in our lives with a video. Please email ONE picture of any and all Veterans in your family to Rachel Espinosa (rachele@stthomasmore.org). We would like to include as many branches as we can including: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, Reserves and National Guard. Please only send US Vets. All pictures must be submitted by November 2nd, 2018.

Religion
We will continue with our study of the Commandments this week. At some point, please take a peek at your child’s religion notebook…that is where the completed Commandments will be. Lectio Divina Week 9 will be due on Thursday, October 25th. 2nd Step Lesson 5 is also due on Thursday, October 25th.
We are continuing our daily Rosaries here at school for 40 Days for Life. If you and your family say a Rosary at any point this month, let me know and I will add you to the count. Thank you!

Math
We will begin studying fractions this week. Our goal is to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators by the end of the week. I will begin the week doing a review of basic fraction content and will work our way up to the addition and subtraction by Thursday. We will then continue (next week) with adding and subtracting mixed numbers and touch on decimals as well.

Science
We should be able to wrap up chapter 4 by the end of this week or beginning of next week at the latest. We will be working on monocots, dicots, and tropisms to finish it off. Students will have an open NOTE test for this chapter so should be familiar with the notes we have taken in class. I do not have a specific date set for this test yet.

Social Studies
We began chapter 2 last week and will continue working through the chapter this week. I have changed the test date to Tuesday, October 30th so we have a little more time to finish and discuss the chapter. All students were given a study guide to begin and the entire study guide will be due on Thursday, October 25th. A Quizlet can be found at https://quizlet.com/_2o6uzv. Students are also working on their Help Wanted poster and those should be completed this week, with presentations on Thursday.
