LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK
RELIGION –We read a scripture account about how wonderful it must have been for Mary and Joseph as they began waiting together for the birth of baby Jesus, the Savior. We discussed what we could do to prepare for Jesus’ birthday.
We celebrated the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12.
VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: Generosity – giving without counting the cost
SAINT OF THE MONTH: Saint Nicholas
MATH – Chapter 7 – Numbers to 20. We learned to use a place-value chart to show numbers up to 20, and also show objects up to 20 as tens and ones.
LANGUAGE ARTS – In Unit 5, Lesson 3 we isolated sounds in words and generated words that contain long /e/, spelled e and e_e. Our Read Aloud stories this week were The Zoo Trip by Molly Miller and Inside the Fire Station by Jan Mader. Reading skills that we worked on included: predicting and clarifying. We learned about plural nouns. We read decodable books 70-72 and they went home. I hope they continue to read them to you at home!
SOCIAL STUDIES: Postcards from all around the United States are still coming in. Thank you so much for helping us with this fun project! Our Gingerbread people are traveling far!
