Mrs. Cincilla’s News and Notes Week of 10.14.19

RELIGION -In Lesson 8 we learned that miracles, done by the power of God, help people believe in God and follow him.

Virtue of the Month: Reverence: showing deep respect for God

Saint of the Month: Saint Hyacinth

MATH – We continued working on Chapter 4, “Subtraction Facts to 10”. We reviewed subtraction sentences and made fact families. We reviewed all of our lessons from this chapter to prepare for the upcoming tests.

LANGUAGE ARTS – In Unit 3, Lesson 1 we isolated sounds in words and generated words that contain the sound of ks, spelled x. We also learned to blend, spell and read words that contain the d and t sounds, spelled ed. Our Read Aloud stories this week were The Reason for Four Seasons by Susan Willow and Time is When by Beth Gleick. Reading skills that we worked on included: main ideas, clarifying, and visualizing. We learned that a sentence is a group of words that states a complete thought, and that every sentence begins with a capital letter and has an end mark. We read decodable books 34, 35 and 37 and they went home daily. I hope they continue to read them to you at home!

HANDWRITING – We practiced writing upper and lower case T.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We watched a video about Christopher Columbus and had fun doing a craft of Christopher Columbus in a bottle.
