Summer Reading and Math Assignments for incoming 6th graders:

1. Summer Reading Assignments: Incoming 6th graders will be responsible for reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by: C.S. Lewis (ISBN: 9780064471046).  Mrs. DeLurgio spoke to the classes today, so the students should have information for you today.  The information sheet is available in my resources section.

2. Math Summer Solutions:  All incoming 6th graders will be responsible for completing a Math Summer Solutions workbook over the summer.  The workbook must be completed in it’s entirety and turned in during the first week of school (official due date TBD).  All 5th graders should order the “Intermediate A: Mathematics” level.  This assignment will be taken for a grade in math.  These workbooks can be ordered now!  Shipping is free until May 12th.  Please see the ordering information below:

This week, we will be reviewing and discussing the Beatitudes.  They will be having a test over the Beatitudes on Friday, May 10th.

Thank you to all the volunteers that will be driving/chaperoning for our trip to Mother Cabrini Shrine!  I will be sending out a separate email to those volunteers with information about the trip.

Today, we will be doing a review on the decimals we have studied thus far.   The kiddos will have a test over decimals tomorrow.  We will then move on to expressing fractions and decimals as percentages!

Social Studies

Last week, we began our study of the War of 1812.  Students filled out a map of the various battles of 1812 and will are responsible for knowing that map in it’s entirety.  The map test is still scheduled for Thursday, May 9th.  I have posted a blank copy of the map in my resources section for them to print and practice on.  I have also included a copy of the key that might be easier to read and study.  On Friday of this week, students will be completing a “War of 1812 Escape Room” to finalize our studies on the War of 1812.

We are moving on to our study of the various forms of energy.  I have postponed the test until next week as I am wanting to have the students work on a STEM project in which they will be building a catapult as part of their study of kinetic and potential energy!  I am in need of a few materials, so if you would like to donate, please sign up below.  If possible, I would like materials to school by Wednesday (sorry for the short notice:))
