LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK
RELIGION: In Lesson 13, we learned that before Jesus ascended into heaven, he asked the Apostles to carry on the work of the Church in a special way. He wanted them to teach the people all that Jesus taught. We learned that the Apostles’ Creed is a special prayer that that tells the story of our Catholic faith.
VIRTUES IN PRACTICE:
February Virtue: Prudence – thinking about what is best to do
Saint: Blessed Junipero Serra
MATH – We completed our Chapter 8 assessment and took the chapter pre-test for Chapter 9, Length.
LANGUAGE ARTS – In Unit 7, Lesson 1 we isolated sounds in words and generated words that contain long o, spelled oa and ow, and long u, spelled _ew and ue. Our Read Aloud stories this week were Why Evergreen Trees Never Lose Their Leaves and Plant Life Cycles. Reading skills that we worked on included genre knowledge, text features, and cause and effect. We learned that pronouns take the place of nouns. We read decodable books 82-84 and they home. I hope they continue to read them to you at home!
SCIENCE – We talked about how important the Sun is for life on Earth and discussed the effects of Earth’s rotation and orbit around the Sun. We watched a video called The Sun, A Real Star.
