Happy Third week of Advent!
Jesus, tender vine of our loving Father, in you we seek perfect peace of mind and spirit. Journey with us this Advent season, as we seek to let go of worldly fears and sins of pride. This week, we offer our lives to you, with prayer and petition, and with joyful thanksgiving for the perfection of your love. Amen

The “Polar Express” Party is right around the corner and the elves have been busy at work preparing for Friday, December 21st! As part of the day’s festivities, our “Polar Express” train will be stopping at the “Gift Exchange” Station. We are asking that ONLY the children who will be attending the “Polar Express” Party on December 21st, bring in a wrapped gift to their homeroom by Monday, December 17th. ***Please keep in mind non-specific gender gifts***
Group 1: Grades: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd (Dollar Store . . . $1)
Group 2: Grades: 3rd, 4th, 5th (Dollar Store . . . $1-$3)
Group 3: Grades: 6th, 7th, 8th ($5.00 Gift Cards)
As part of our polar express day we have taken extra precautions to make sure we are providing allergy friendly treats. Since there are so many different allergies we couldn’t do separate treats for each individual allergy so we will be combining them. We will have a separate station and separate serving platters. I assure you they will still be as yummy as the other treats?
For the cookie station will we be serving Free to Eat snickerdoodle cookies and Enjoy Life chocolate chip cookies. These cookies are made in allergy friendly plants. We will also have Red Vines as those are gluten free.
We will also have allergy friendly apple cider for those who cannot have the hot cocoa due to dairy allergies.
This week, we will continue our traditional Advent Prayer Service in class. All students will be taking turns leading the service and/or reading the Scripture passage that aligns with their Jesse Tree Ornament. By the time we leave for Christmas Break, our tree will be fully revealed!
We will be praying the Rosary this week as well as focusing on Advent in our workbooks. Lectio Divina will not be assigned this week.
We will continue adding and subtracting mixed numbers this week. Coming off the weekend, the kiddos seemed to forget the concepts a bit, so we will continue practicing them and ending with a quiz on Thursday.
This week we will be working on a Volcano booklet to solidify what we have been reading and discussing in class. We will also be talking about a special lesson on snow and what makes it white! After Christmas, we will be working on the Volcano Project….more details next year!! 😉
We will be working through one more lesson before break in Social Studies. Students will have a Time for Kids due on Thursday. The map AND spelling test over the 13 Colonies is still scheduled for Wednesday, December 19th. I have put a blank copy of the map in the resources area of my blog.
