LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK

RELIGION – We finished our Advent tri-fold folder and Waiting for Advent packet. We celebrated the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12.

VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: Purity – keeping your soul free of sin.

SAINT OF THE MONTH: St. Dominic Savio

MATH –We took the Cumulative Review for Chapters 5 and 6 on Tuesday and Wednesday. We began Chapter 7, Numbers to 20 on Friday.

LANGUAGE ARTS – In Unit 5, Lesson 2 we isolated sounds in words and generated words that contain o, spelled o and o_e, and u spelled u and u_e. Our Read Aloud stories this week were Places in Our Community by Nicole DeSalle and Sam’s Map by Miguel Novarro. Reading skills that we worked on included: author’s purpose, and fact and opinion. We learned that the days of the week and months of the year begin with a capital letter. We also learned that commas go between some words and numbers in a sentence. We read decodable books 66-69 and they went home. I hope they continue to read them to you at home!

SOCIAL STUDIES: Postcards from all around the United States are coming in. Thank you so much for helping us with this fun project! Our Gingerbread people are traveling far!
