2B News

Dear Second Grade Families:

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

We will not be having any Spelling homework or a Spelling Test this week due to the shortened week. However, the decodable summary project will be due Tuesday and the calendar with parent initials will be due on Wednesday as usual. We will have a math test on Wednesday on Chapter 14, telling time.

Lent will start this Wednesday with Mass. Therefore, we will not be having Mass on Tuesday but Mass dress required for Wednesday.

STM will be having a diaper drive during Lent. Please note:

1 in 3 children under the age of 3 live in poor families

  • The average baby uses 8-10 diapers a day
    • At $100 or more a month, diapers become a

luxury item for many families.

  • Earning minimum wage, diaper cost is 12-15% of take-home pay
  • Food Stamps, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and Medicare cannot be used for diapers.

How to Help

STM Diaper Drive During Lent! Monetary or diaper donations appreciated!

Volunteers welcome!

    • Eliminates the need to reuse disposable

  • Reduces crying, stress, and potential child abuse
  • Laundromats do not allow washing cloth diapers

***We still have a few girls in the classroom without their legs covered on cold days.  Please cover the girls’ legs with either tights or leggings as we will still go outside for recess and please review the following weather protocol:

Please remember to send the girls in with either tights or leggings to cover their legs in the elements.

We are asking for the students to try and remember their coats as we are entering the cold season. We try and go outside everyday for recess if the temperature is 32 or above but sometimes we go out if the temperature is a few degrees below the 32 degree mark. If the temperature at 10:00 is 32 or below the students will need a heavier jacket for the day. If a student does not have an appropriate coat for the weather they will need to stay inside the office while we all go outside. We don’t want to leave any child behind from recess. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
