2B News

Dear Second Grade Families:

I hope the second grade families all had an amazing weekend! It was my pleasure meeting with you all at Back to School night. Thank you for attending.

Thank you to all of the families that are helping their children review their math facts, flash cards from 1-10, both addition and subtraction. This will prove to be a benefit when we move into multiplication and division as well. Please also keep reviewing time and money with reading and writing daily for 15-20 minutes. Thank you for support!

IMPORTANT FACT: In an effort to get the students ready for third grade, please if you see your child printing from the bottom of the line to the top please help redirect them to always write from the top to the bottom. This will help them this year as they learn D’Nealian and next year as they learn cursive. I will also keep a close eye at school and redirect them to always write from the top to the bottom.

As a reminder, we will have spelling homework sent out every Friday to be returned the following Thursday with a spelling test given every Friday. Their spelling words will be written weekly in the assignment notepad to study from. We will have math worksheets going home for homework once we finish a section in math often to be returned the following day. Please look at your child’s assignment notepad each night with instructions for homework and notes from the classroom. Feel free to also send notes back via the assignment notepad. Please initial on the right side of the assignment notepad and return the next day.  On Mondays we will be sending home a white STM folder which will contain most of their work that was completed the prior week. Please take out all of the papers and please sign the form saying you received them and send the white folder back to school, All Fridays will be STM spirit dress day! Please wear an STM shirt or STM T-shirt. This shirt CANNOT be a homemade shirt and please wear jeans or uniform bottoms.

The students seem to be very happy and are off to a great start! Once again thank you for your support! It is a blessing and a pleasure to have your child in my class.
