Mrs. Jan Altevogt, Principal
The 2016-2017 school year begins my 34th year in education. My first 16 years were enjoyably spent in the classroom. The remaining 18 years have been dedicated to Catholic Administration, serving as either an Assistant Principal or Principal within the Archdiocese of Denver's Catholic Schools. This is my ninth year at STM Catholic and my sixth year as Principal.
I received my BS degree from West Virginia State University; my MA from Colorado Christian University; and, as a life-long learner, continue to take graduate-level classes in the field of Administration.
My husband and I moved to Colorado from Columbus, Ohio 20 years ago. We have five children, nine grandchildren and a Springer Spaniel named Freckles. My family is my top priority, but I also enjoy cooking, reading, golfing and traveling.
It has been my privilege to serve our Lord each day. I feel very grateful to be a part of STM Catholic and have witnessed the generosity and kindness of this vibrant community. Truly, I am blessed.
Mrs. Diane Nelson, Middle School Assistant Principal
I am blessed and excited to be able to work at St Thomas More Catholic School. I have been in education for 25 years. I have taught in four different states teaching a variety of grades. I have also had the privilege to be an assistant administrator in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before we were transferred to California. I am looking forward to working closely with the staff and students and together to grow in our faith.
I was one of those kids growing up who always knew that I wanted to be in education. I have always had a true love towards children. I get energized when I can watch them grow spiritually and academically. I attended the University of Dayton for my undergrad and received my BS degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. I also have a reading difficulties certificate from UD. I earned my Educational Leadership certificate from American College of Education. I have also attended the Archdiocese of Denver Principal’s Formation Institute.
My husband and I moved to the beautiful state of Colorado 23 years ago. I was born and raised in Findlay, OH with four brothers and two sisters. My parents gave all of us a strong gift of our Catholic faith. My husband and I have raised four very active children. I enjoy my family, reading, the outdoors and being active in service projects.
I look forward to each school year to help guide STM Catholic students. I love having the opportunity to be involved in a Catholic school because Christ is the center of all that we do. I am thrilled to have an active part in leading the students in developing their faith and using their God-given talents to serve others.
Ms. AnnaMarie Murillo, Elementary Assistant Principal
In the school year of 2016-2017, I will begin my 30th year in education. I began my career as an English-As-A-Second Language teacher for students in third through fifth grade. I have also taught first and second grade. This will be my 16th year at Saint Thomas More Catholic School and my fifth year as an elementary assistant principal.
I obtained my BS degree from Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska, and have pursued courses on Administration and Supervision through the University of Phoenix. I was selected by Cambridge Who's Who for Professional of the Year representing the Elementary Education Industry in 2011. I believe in continually trying to stay abreast to what is happening in the field of education.
I was born and raised in Gering, Nebraska, (growing up with 19 brothers and sisters) and have also lived in Wyoming. In 1999, I moved to Colorado. I have two sons and a daughter. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, music (singing and playing guitar), cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and reading.
I enjoy working at STM Catholic because I have the privilege to assist parents in fulfilling their sacred mission to tell the Good News to their children.
